"Kontrabando"

A musical ensemble which was created in 1999, in Kavala. Kontrabando  constitutes an active mean of expression of the musicians that from time to time take part in it, as well as of Alkis Zopoglou himself. It’ s a group that is experimenting with the colours of music and expresses itself through the use of various instruments, as much of oriental, as well as of western origins, presenting an essential suggestion for « the new greek sound».

From time to time, a wide range of musical instruments has been introduced to the band, always depending on the needs of the compositions, but on the mood to experiment as well.

On March 2003, “K” circulated its first CD, “Cargo”, through the independent greek music company, Libra Music. “Cargo” contains 13 original compositions- an amalgam of oriental selectionism and western experimentation.

During the last years, the musical band “K”, has realized a great number of appearances for the promotion of “Cargo” all over Greece, but at important music festivals abroad as well: Istanbul (Turkey), Ohrid (FYROM), Nuremberg (Germany), Fillipoupoli (Bulgary) and Bari(Italy), always gaining the best impressions and critics.

At the moment, “K” is experimenting with new instruments and members, enriching its musical universe, and has finished recording material for its new work, "ELEPHANT"  that is out from 11 December 2007.

At its concerts ,it mainly presents compositions of Alkis Zopoglou from its new CD, and earlier compositions of “Cargo”, in new orchestrations.
